Posh Virginia resort offers rooms for $29

One of America’s premier resorts is offering a room for $29 a night–for a limited time only.

The Homestead Resort and Spa in Hot Springs, Va., is launching a “Leap Year” sale during the first week of January. You do, however, have to pay regular price for one night to get a second night at a starting rate of $29 for a classic or premier room. (If you want to spring for a suite, the second night would be $129.)

The offer is valid from Jan. 4 to Dec. 20, 2012, but must be booked from Jan. 3 to Jan. 6. Other terms to note: The deposit of a full payment is non-refundable. And black-out dates are scattered throughout the year, but the resort has availability during all 12 months.

Rates vary at the Homestead. In January they start at $175 a night, in April at $195, in July at $250 and in November/December at $195.

The Homestead is a 3,000-acre estate with more than 30 available activities including ice skating and skiing in the winter and horseback riding and golf every other time of the year.
