Libya keeping carriers out of EU

The Associated Press

— The European Union says that Libyan aviation authorities have decided to keep all its air carriers from flying into the EU until at least November because of safety concerns.

The European Commission said Tuesday that the action was taken because there were serious concerns regarding the safety oversight of the planes that were licensed in Libya.

In a regular update of its blacklist, the EU also said Venezuela’s state airline Conviasa is being placed on it because of “numerous safety concerns arising from accidents and the results of ramp checks at EU airports.”
