The 2,974-passenger Carnival Conquest will reposition from New Orleans to Miami in November 2013 to operate year-round, seven-day Caribbean sailings.

Carnival previously announced that the Carnival Sunshine, the vessel currently operating as the 2,642-passenger Carnival Destiny and scheduled to be renamed following a two-month refit next winter, will replace the Conquest in New Orleans.

With the Conquest, Carnival will have five ships based year-round in Miami, and one operating seasonally. Combined, they will carry more than one million passengers annually from Miami, the most of any Carnival homeport.

Carnival said the Conquest would depart Miami every Sunday on one of two itineraries beginning Nov. 24, 2013. An Eastern Caribbean cruise will call at Nassau, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk, while a Western Caribbean route will visit Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan, Honduras.

The Conquest is the next Carnival ship in line to get a makeover as part of the $500 million upgrade cycle the line began rolling out fleetwide last fall that it calls its Fun Ship 2.0 initiative.

During an Oct. 14-28, 2012, dry dock, the vessel will be outfitted with several of the line’s new eateries, bars and entertainment outlets including a burger joint branded around the Food Network’s Guy Fieri, an EA SPORTS Bar, and the Punchliner Comedy Brunch presented by George Lopez.

The Conquest will also get the line’s new RedFrog Rum Bar, a poolside version of the line’s popular RedFrog Pub; the BlueIguana Tequila Bar, featuring a variety of tequila-based frozen drinks; and the Alchemy Cocktail Bar.

The Conquest will continue its schedule from New Orleans through Nov. 9, 2013, before repositioning to Miami.
