Bahamas cruise canceled after small fire

Palm Beach, Fla.-based Celebration Cruise Line is canceling today’s sailing of its single ship, the Bahamas Celebration, in the wake of a small fire on the vessel, according to local news outlets.

The Palm Beach Post reports one of the 1,008-passenger ship’s generators blew a rod and piston on Monday, resulting in an oil leak that caught fire before being put out by the ship’s fire suppression system.

The Bahamas Celebration never lost power and no one was injured in the incident, but the ship’s air conditioning is no longer working, the news outlet says.

The Post says the line expects the vessel to return to service later this week.
