Another Carnival ship in Port Canaveral? Don’t rule it out

Could Carnival move a fourth ship to Florida’s Port Canaveral? A Carnival executive hinted at the possibility on Thursday during a ceremony to welcome the arrival of a third Carnival vessel at the port.

Carnival regional vice president of sales Rob Huffman told USA TODAY sister paper Florida Today that the line already is selling out cabins on the Carnival Ecstasy, which just began sailing out of Port Canaveral earlier this month, as well as the two other ships it has based in the port.

“If we continue to fill the ships the way that we have, there might be a fourth ship in the future,” Huffman told the news outlet.

Huffman was at Port Canaveral to host a ceremony, tour and reception for local officials to celebrate the 2,052-passenger Ecstasy’s arrival at the Florida seaport, which is east of Orlando.

The Ecstasy is sailing four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas while a sister ship, the 2,052-passenger Carnival Sensation, offers three- and four-night Bahamas cruises. Carnival’s third ship at the port, the 3,634-passenger Carnival Dream, sails seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises.
