$99 rates and other Thanksgiving hotel deals

Trying to avoid staying at Aunt Beverly’s house on Thanksgiving night?

A number of hotels across the USA are ready to accommodate, so it’s worth shopping for discounts or value-added packages. In case you’re headed to New York, Philly, Washington D.C. or San Diego, Hotel Check-In rounded up a few, select deals that haven’t been widely publicized so you still stand a good chance of taking advantage.

Philly: The most urgent of the deals is a $99 call-in rate at Philadelphia’s Sofitel hotel is offering that you must book today by 8 p.m. The rate’s a good 50% off what you might otherwise pay that night, and it also includes Wi-Fi. A hotel executive shared it with me via Twitter. The non-refundable rate’s good for any night from Sunday, Nov. 20, through Monday, Nov. 28. Book it by calling (215) 569-8300.

New York: Want to try a trendy, new hotel in Chelsea? The newly opened Hotel Americano sent out a “Hotel Americano for Thanksgiving” email to would-be customers (it’s not a press release) that touts $255 rates on Thanksgiving night, plus a $10 credit for breakfast. When I checked on the hotel’s website, the cheapest rate I found for the same night runs $295. The email says the rate is good Nov. 20 to the 27th.

San Diego: The Omni San Diego Hotel’s “Say No to Snow” holiday package is valid on Thanksgiving. Rates start at $139 a night. According to the package details on Omni’s website, the rate includes perks such as a free valet parking, a bottle of sunscreen and peppermint margaritas for two at McCormick Schmick’s. (Wonder if they have a Thanksgiving option.)

Washington D.C.: The Madison (formerly a Loews hotel) has $179 rates under its “Give Thanks @ the Madison” promo. The rate is packed with goodies: a deluxe room, free valet parking, breakfast buffet for two in PostScript.

Looking for a blow-out family extravaganza? The Madison is also offering a suite package for $799 that includes family friendly touches including a four-course Thanksgiving Day dinner for eight people with local Virginia wine in your suite or to-go, if you’d like, in addition to a professionally photographed family portrait in your suite.

If I hear of any other attractive deals, I’ll add them in this space.

As for Aunt Beverly, I have nothing against her. My family and I, in fact, will check into my aunt’s beautiful home on Long Island next week.
